Hi Mark,

I find the board to be magic, very different but amazing and just what I was looking for. If you read what Tomo has to say about his boards - from my experience they work just as he intends them to, it's not marketing hype.

The follow up video to this is sadly a very wanky mockery of the hipster fixed gear riding set. All packaged up with fake flat tyre, 12 inch shifter carried in case of fake flat tyre, in a linen bag. Law breaking- no helmet, texting whilst riding, and riding down the wrong side of the road... Maybe I'm too old and the kids won't care? Can't wait to see what's in the bag for part three...

Thanks Walt, yeah I found I was doing all these little flicks in the opposite direction before going into turns. Getting away with them on the thruster, but on the Tomo getting a micro slide going and stalling mid motion, not good. I feel like I have that under control now.

With my Tomos I had an intial break-in period where I fell on take-off a lot until I finally found the sweet spot. I'd say it took me about a week to get it and stop falling.

I surf heavily on the front foot and still do

I tend to vibe people who ride pop-outs because pop-outs are an inferior product heavily dependent on big-name shapers for new designs. Pop-out manufacturers and their big name shapers are basically a parasite class interested in monopoly and resting on their laurels. The material quality of these boards is much lower than claimed, also.

I've noticed also that you never see pros riding any of those boards because the flex characteristics are all wrong.

[...] I’m almost learning to surf again, still feeling my way with the board and finding out what it does best. It is a far more refined and finely tuned machine at the very least, so I do expect a greater level of difficulty to match it’s high performance potential. Getting your feet in the right position, most importantly your back foot, seems fairly critical and something that Tomo pointed out when I was a bit lost. Try to ride it with your back foot in front of the fins and welcome to weird town, drifty, slidey, strange. Get it in the right place and bang, away you go, hence the tail pad. [...]
